     Rut Finnsdottir left her native Iceland in 1996 to be an au pair in Calvert County, Maryland. After an amazing experience with an American family she returned home with tales of triumph and challenges - and scores of new friends and her "American family". 

     Since December of 2001 Rut has made Maryland her home, returning to the au pair program as a Local Childcare Coordinator in 2014. She and husband Andrew are committed to promoting cultural exchange and supporting program participants with both of these amazing program. They live in Easton, Maryland with a managerie of animals and their 4 children ages (6-22). So far they have been host parents to 5 different au pairs and 5 exchange students so far, and have supported hundreds of families and exchange visitors in the USA. They are always eager for the next global family member to join their home.
